Heroes Who Changed the Future of Camp Safety
On July 4, 2025, two counselors and 25 campers, now known collectively as the “Heaven’s 27,” lost their lives in the devastating flash floods at Camp Mystic (Cile Steward remains MISSING). This preventable tragedy is an unimaginable heartbreak that no one should have to endure. Yet amidst their deepest grief, a coalition of “Heaven’s 27” parents ignited a movement to make summer camps safer for all children, starting with camp safety legislation in Texas and plans to expand nationwide.
We hope to honor the enduring light of the “Heaven’s 27” by continuing to remember their unique lives and legacies via the Heaven’s 27 Foundation, created by their families to turn their spirit of joy and generosity into scholarships, community programs and causes, and the ongoing Campaign for Camp Safety — because every child deserves a safe summer.
