Every Child Deserves a Safe Summer
The Campaign for Camp Safety Safe Summers Fund is a grant program designed to support life-saving reforms being implemented at nonprofit youth camps across Texas in compliance with the Heaven’s 27 Youth Camp Safety Act and Youth CAMPER Act, which were signed into law last September and go into effect this summer.
Launched by The Campaign for Camp Safety and powered by The Safety Navigator, the Fund exists to support camps that are deeply committed to safety but face challenges implementing safety improvements. With new and evolving safety requirements, many camps are navigating complex changes without the internal resources, funding, or specialist support to do so alone. The Safe Summers Fund is designed to help bridge that gap.
How does the grant process work?
Grants are awarded based on considerations of need, risk, and readiness. The program prioritizes investments that address a camp’s highest safety risks and contribute to long-term safety capability. Applications are informed by each camp’s unique risk profile and supported by the Safety Navigator’s structured risk assessment framework, tools, and expert guidance
The Safety Navigator platform serves as the access point for camps to apply for funding. Camps can review eligibility and criteria, access application guidance, submit applications, and track outcomes in one place. The platform is free to use and available to all camps.
The Safe Summers Fund is currently focused on funding nonprofit camps in Texas to implement the Heaven’s 27 Camp Safety Act and Youth CAMPER Act passed into law last September.
Grants will be reviewed on a rolling basis, starting January 20, 2026. Applications can be submitted via The Safety Navigator platform.
How are the grants funded?
The Safe Summers Fund is made possible by leading support from the Shalom Austin Texas Flood Relief Fund - supported by Jewish communities across Texas and around the country to stand with neighbors in urgent need - and Lauren Kate and Peter Holt. Additional major support has been provided by the BBYO Jewish Youth Movement and a number of individual donors throughout the Campaign for Camp Safety network.
